Cross-Functional #165: That'll never work here
In this issue we take a look at the ICED theory, planning with roadmaps, AI As A UX Assistant and much more...

That'll never work here
“That's great in theory but it will never work in practice.”
How many times have changes that you've proposed been shot down like this?
The status quo is working so changes have a high downside and limited upside for managers - a small bonus versus losing their job.
That's why I love people like Pim and Joost at Corporate Rebels and Teresa Torres. They go out of their way to prove how much better things can be.
In our links this week, Teresa goes into detail about how she structures her community of practice to get people doing real discovery actions to prove how quick and effective they can be. Pim and Joost go a step further. They have created a private equity firm to buy up companies and transform their management practices. They are so confident that "it can work here" they are literally putting their money where their mouth is.
It’s Poll Time
Does the theory work in practice? How readily can the ‘theory’ pitched in bestselling industry books like Inspired, Continuous Discovery Habits or the DevOps handbook be applied in the real world? |

The Results of Last Week’s Poll
The question was: How do you see team structures changing with increased AI usage?
Users responded:

Wow. I did not expect this. The clear winner is that teams will grow even larger than they are today.
But then I read the comments and realised I had phrased the question poorly. In my head, I was talking about the size of individual product/project teams within a company, whereas the comments reflect more of an overall company IT size. In this new lens, I agree - I think IT size will increase but my personal view is that there will be more, smaller, product teams. Time will tell I guess. Thanks again for sharing your insights.
