Cross-Functional #191: Another framework
Is the Scrum Master party over, the difference between good and bad product coaches, rethinking personas and React's pivot to concurrency.

The Main Thing: Another framework

Source: https://xkcd.com/927
Does the world need more agile frameworks? Considering we created a new one we think so.
When we were looking into ways of working at UXDX we started with the data: 90% of features fail to deliver the expected benefit. This led to our first principle: We don’t know what customers want. Teams need end-to-end ownership from idea to satisfied customers to be able to iterate on the solutions they build.
But quick iteration requires quick releases, and as anyone with enterprise experience knows things slow down as you scale. The delays due to dependencies and sign-offs grow exponentially with company size. This led to our second principle: you can’t manage dependencies, you must remove them.
The final thing that really influenced the framework is how busy people are. While some people love to dig into process and find optimal ways of working, most people don’t. They want to focus on building their businesses. That’s why we decided to make the framework more detailed and opinionated than other frameworks. We don’t want to leave the hard decisions up to the companies.

The Results of Last Week’s Poll
The question was: What are your thoughts on frameworks?

It looks like this one struck a chord - it was the most voted on poll that we’ve done. While the results were pretty even across the three categories I was actually most surprised by people saying they love their current framework! I just haven’t heard people say that much before… I think we’ll be diving deeper on these topics over the coming months.
