Creating Stream Teams around Value Streams

You’ve run an event storming session and identified a lot of independent value streams. Now what?

The first step is to prioritise the value stream to identify which ones need more or less funding. There are three dimensions you can use to prioritise:

  1. Strategic importance - does the value stream contribute to your growth, cost cutting or other strategic goals?

  2. Market differentiation - does the value stream represent novel functionality or is it table-stakes?

  3. Cognitive load - does the value stream contain simple or really complex business rules, logic and other complexities?

With your prioritise in place you can start to identify the people required to support the value stream and therefore how much funding you need. I go into more detail in the article, Creating Stream Teams around Value Streams, below.
